The Black Dahlia Murder – Miasma (2005)

Miasma is the second album by melodic death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder. Released by Metal Blade on July 12, 2005, Miasma is the only album to feature drummer Zach Gibson, who replaced founding member and drummer, Cory Grady, due to personal issues (Gibson left the group in early 2006). The album’s title, Miasma, refers to noxious exhalations from putrescent organic matter; poisonous effluvia or germs polluting the atmosphere. The track “Dave Goes to Hollywood” was originally entitled “Vice Campaign.” Videos were made for the tracks “Statutory Ape,” “A Vulgar Picture,” and “Miasma.” Read more

Samael – Rebellion [EP] (1995)

Not wanting to keep their fans waiting after Ceremony of Opposites, Samael releases Rebellion. Two new songs, three if you count the hidden track, two reworked versions and a cover comprise this EP. As an album, its not bad. As a step to see where Samael was going, its quite good.

Samael take their black metal sound and expand it on Rebellion. The older songs get a much needed shot in the arm with a darker sound. Rebellion, the song, sounds like it was dropped from Ceremony… record. Static Journey was a sign of thing to come in Samael’s future. A bit of industrial tossed into the metal mix. You should own this.
