Avenged Sevenfold – Nightmare 2010 (Coming Soon on June 2010)

Nightmare is the fifth studio album by American rock band Avenged Sevenfold, which is due to be released on July 27, 2010 through Warner Bros. Records; it was produced by Mike Elizondo and mixed in New York City by noted engineer Andy Wallace. Nightmare is the last record with James “The Rev” Sullivan performing drums after his death in December 2009; he wrote some of the songs before the time of his death. Mike Portnoy, from Dream Theater, performed as the drummer for the album in his place and will play with the band for all the upcoming tours through the end of 2010. As a tribute, The Rev’s vocals are still on the album.

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare (2010)

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy issued a statement about being tapped to work with Avenged Sevenfold on the band’s new album. Portnoy filled in for James “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in late December. Portnoy said:
“Even under normal circumstances, I would’ve been happy to help the guys out in any way I could as I think Avenged Sevenfold are a great band; But under these incredibly sad and tragic circumstances, I must say I am truly honored to have been asked to play with them and I didn’t even have to think twice about saying yes. [...] These guys are a true family and it is an incredibly emotional experience to be here with them for the first time without their lost brother. But they have welcomed me into the family with open arms and there’s a real excitement to make the record they had set out to make. I am treating my participation on this album with the utmost respect for Jimmy’s memory and am remaining as true as possible to the drum parts that he wrote for the songs and the record he wanted to make. [...] Although I wish I could stay on board with Avenged Sevenfold in a more permanent capacity; I will need to resume work with Dream Theater to start a new album at some point in 2011. However, I will be able to join my brothers in Avenged Sevenfold for at least the duration of their touring throughout 2010, and hopefully this will give them the time to continue to heal and get comfortable back on the road.”

DISTURBED: ‘Asylum’ Artwork, Release Date Revealed – June 29, 2010

Chicago hard rockers DISTURBED will release their new album, “Asylum”, on August 31 via Reprise Records. The CD will follow up the group’s 2008 release, “Indestructible”, their fourth million-seller in a row and third No. 1 album.

As with “Indestructible”, DISTURBED self-produced “Asylum”, which the band began writing in September 2009 and recording in February of this year. Frontman David Draiman describes it as “still identifiably DISTURBED, but showing more maturation. We feel this is one of the strongest bodies of work we’ve ever put together. It definitely goes in familiar areas, but with new levels of precision and skill.”

Lyrically, Draiman says, the themes “range from very personal and introspective, to the political and provocative. What would you expect? No songs about puppy dogs or rainbows here.”

“We want this record to be a shining example of how the years have made us stronger,” Draiman says. “We want it to be an album that helps people get through their own trials and tribulations, as always.”

The first single from “Asylum”, “Another Way To Die” deals with some very timely subject matter, as Draiman told The Pulse of Radio. “Obviously it’s referring to the global catastrophe that we know as global warming, and the effects that it continues to have on our planet, and our irresponsibility in doing what we do as a species, and our constant appetite, our constant consumption at all costs, you know, no matter what is destroyed, no matter what is laid to waste,” he said. “And certainly what’s happening in the Gulf now is, you know, horrific.”

“Another Way To Die” went on sale at iTunes on June 15.

DISTURBED will hit the road ahead of the album’s release, and will be anchoring this summer’s new Uproar Tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD and STONE SOUR.

LAMB OF GOD: Making Of ‘Hit The Wall’

Grammy-nominated Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD recently created an exclusive song for the upcoming blockbuster title Iron Man 2: The Videogame. The all-new song, “Hit the Wall”, serves as the perfect complement to the nonstop super-powered action of the game, which heads to consoles and handheld systems everywhere in April. The game is based on the cinematic universe featured in Marvel Studios‘ “Iron Man 2″, in theaters end of April.

Commented frontman Randy Blythe: “Working on a piece of music specifically for the Iron Man 2 video game was a new challenge for us.

“A few of us are real game and comic fans, so the partnership with Sega [Iron Man publisher] has been really exciting.

“We can’t wait to play the game and hear our music as Iron Man kicks ass.”

“The music of LAMB OF GOD definitely evokes the intensity of Iron Man action, and we are very excited to have them working with us for the game,” said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, Sega of America.

LAMB OF GOD was nominated in two categories — “Best Live Band” and “Best Drummer” — at the second annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on Thursday, April 8 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The show will be televised on VH1 Classic on Saturday, May 22.

LAMB OF GOD received a second Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category — for the track “Set to Fail” from its latest album, “Wrath”, which came out last year on Epic Records.

The band was previously nominated in the “Best Metal Performance” category for the song “Redneck” from LAMB OF GOD’s 2006 album “Sacrament”.

“Wrath” landed at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart back in February 2009 with first-week sales of over 67,000 copies.

Lamb of God Festival Performances and Hit the Wall 2010

Lamb of God will be on the 2010 Mayhem Festival on the Mayhem Festival Main Stage along with Korn, Rob Zombie, and Five Finger Death Punch. Other festival participants include: Atreyu, In This Moment, 3 Inches of Blood , Hatebreed, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, and Winds of Plague. Lamb of God has also been nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for the Best Metal Performance category, with “Set to Fail” but lost out to Judas Priest.

Lamb of God played the Download Festival 2010 after being confirmed via the official Download Festival website at 00.30 on February 16, 2010, it was their third time at Download Festival.

Lamb of God will also be performing for the first time in the Philippines for the annual PULP Summer Slam on April 17, 2010 with thrash metal band Testament. The band also played in India for the first time on May 15, 2010, headlining the Summer Storm festival in Bangalore. They are scheduled to play for their Turkish fans at Kucukciftlik Park, Istanbul, on May 17.

On April 19, 2010, IGN released a ‘making of’ video that features Lamb of God working on their next single, “Hit the Wall,” which is already available as Internet download, without vocals. The single is featured in the upcoming Iron Man 2 video game, which is being released May 4, 2010.

Lamb of God has been announced as one band (the other being Baroness ) to support Metallica on their Australian tour in late 2010.
